Hemkade, also known as H48 and formerly known as North Sea Venue, is a historic warehouse located in Zaandam, overlooking the North Sea Canal. Originally designed by Amsterdam School architect F.A. Warners, the building has a rich past, serving as the Bruynzeel company school, a barrel factory, and even an indoor golf court. Since 1994, it has operated as one of the Netherlands' most iconic event venues, celebrating over 30 years of existence. In 2022, Hemkade 48 underwent a major renovation, with upgrades including expanded floors, an enlarged main hall, new air conditioning units, and completely revamped bars. It continues to be a landmark in the Dutch dance scene.
H48's event portfolio today features some of the most renowned names in the electronic dance music industry, including Music ON, Multigroove, Masters of Hardcore, Boiler Room, Rampage, Loveland, ANTS, The Cuckoo's Nest, and more. In addition to its extensive dance portfolio, H48 also hosts B2B events for major corporate clients such as YouTube/Google, BarberSociety, XITE, Collecting Cars, and GGD Zaanstreek.
